| Subject: Please Pray for Ethan Wed Aug 13, 2014 9:01 pm | |
| Great Update for Ethan, please continue to pray for him......Ethan had clinic today where his counts all looked great. Thankfully, his blood cultures are totally negative for the fungal infection. Praise God! I'm also happy to report that Ethan has continued to feel so much better. He was able to eat here and there today and enjoy time with his buddy. Besides a long nap at clinic, he has been able to stay awake the rest of the day. His worn out body just had so much on its plate last week. Ethan was able to start his chemo (cytoxan/topotecan) today. The chemo (a low/mid dose) is a 5 day course, done daily at the clinic. The drugs and required fluids run about 4 hours each day. He also takes Crizotinib, an ALK inhibitor, twice daily. The trial we really want for Ethan still has no opening date in sight. Four months ago, we were told it might open in four months. Four months later and it might be another four months. It's frustrating and disappointing, but all we can do is just continually pray and ask that you pray as well. The two inhibitors in the trial target both of the giants that are causing Ethan's tumor cells to proliferate: CDK4 and ALK. The picture is of Ethan and his little brothers at clinic today. They originally all tried to fit in that one chair to no avail. The little boys can be...well, they can be boys! But they sure make these long days at clinic so much fun, even if they often have to do laundry duty when they get home for all their crazy daily antics. They make Ethan and me laugh often and we're going to miss them and their sister being able to come to clinic so much when school starts. Please continue to pray for Ethan's appetite to improve. Pray the chemo and Criz are working together against Ethan's tumor cells. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/ethanhallmark | |
